Aktualisiert: 8. Feb. 2021

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Est. price: 1,30 Euros (Germany)

150g chickpeas

50ml olive oil

1 garlic clove

2 teaspoons of tahin

5 teaspoons of zaa'tar

250g wheat flour

1 pack of yeast

sticks of cucumber, carrots and bell pepper

To make hummus you blend chickpeas, the garlic clove, 2 teaspoons of tahin, half a teaspoon of cumin, some olive oil, salt and half a cup of water. The final product is a very person decision when it comes to the consistency, the amount of cumin and garlic. Some people also like to add lemon. But either way, it will make you hate the industrial hummus from the supermarket.

Hummus is always served with bread and usually it's vegan. For this, simply stir wheat flour, water, dry or actual yeast with some salt. Use your hands or a stirring machine and do it thoroughly. Have the dough work at least 45 minutes. You can also leave it in the fridge overnight if you can wait that long. Spread the dough in a thin manner and bake it at ~200°C for 8 minutes. Prolong the time if you prefer crunchy rather than soft bread.

In a small bowl put the amazing zaa'tar together with salt and olive oil.

Slice some cucumber, carrot and bell pepper into sticks.

Stick the bread and vegetables into the hummus and zaa'tar and enjoy your journey to the Middle East!
